History
Roto Studio originated as an in-house department at COSI, of one of the
world's largest and most prestigious science-technology centers. The
group, led by current Roto principals Joseph Wisne, Allen Boerger, Neil
Baker and Randy Hinderer, was charged in 1994 with creating the two new
COSI science centers, in Toledo and Columbus, Ohio. In 1999, the team
began working solely on outside projects, first under the business name
"COSI Studio," and later as the independent, employee-owned LLC that we
are today.
Following its experience with COSI’s expansion projects, Roto
Studio continues to produce the exhibition programs for new museums. We
planned, designed, produced and installed the exhibits at the Avampato
Discovery Museum (formerly Sunrise Museum) in 2003. Roto produced
master plans, and later, exhibit design, for two massive new science
centers in China in 2004. We performed complete planning and
design-build of the new Children’s Museum of Evansville in 2006. In
between, we have conducted more than 40 significant exhibit projects
across the US, making Roto one of the most experienced full-service
producers of interactive exhibits in the field.
"Roto" is Latin for "wheel" -- a symbol which reflects the sense of
continual motion and progress that exemplifies our design and
engineering practice.
